Virtual Work Arrangement Update

Brothers, Sisters and Friends,

This will serve as an update to the messages from our National President on May 16th regarding the Commissioner’s arbitrary and unilateral decision to comply with the Treasury Board Direction of an increase to an average of three days per week Requirement of On-site Presence (ROOP).

PSAC/UTE Bargaining Team meets in talks with Canada Revenue Agency.

Our Bargaining Team met with CRA October 23rd and 24th. While there was considerable discussion and evening negotiations, the discussions did not lead to an agreement as we remain far apart.

We are on Strike

Sisters, Brothers and Friends,

At 9:15 p.m. tonight, the PSAC National President, Chris Aylward, announced that a deal had not been reached with Treasury Board or CRA. As the deadline has passed, all 155,000 PSAC members, including more than 35,000 UTE members, are on strike as of 12:01 AM ET April 19th

We have an agreement with the CRA

At 4:30 on Friday morning, after four years of negotiations, our bargaining team finally reached a Tentative Agreement with the CRA. Our bargaining team unanimously recommends ratification of our new agreement.

We’re Getting Ready to Bargain

Our negotiating team is in place. Our first dates are set.

Earlier this year members of the UTE Collective Bargaining Committee reviewed bargaining proposals submitted by locals and members throughout Canada. With the Negotiating Team now in place and dates set for the Negotiating Team to meet with our PSAC Negotiator and finalize our demands, our union proposed dates to commence bargaining in May (next month).

Parties agree on arbitration process, preparations for coming round underway

Our PSAC/UTE Bargaining Team met with the CRA on May 3rd and 4th to discuss wage increases for 2014 and 2015, consistent with our collective agreement signed last year. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach an agreement over the two days and therefore proceeded to next step under our contract and the law – to discuss and agree upon an arbitration process.
