We're getting ready to bargain with the Canada Revenue Agency

The negotiating team is in place, bargaining priorities are set and bargaining proposals are being prepared.

Our National Bargaining Committee for members at the Canada Revenue Agency met in Ottawa the week of May 14th.  As per Regulation 10, members of the Committee reviewed bargaining proposals submitted by locals and members throughout Canada and set key priorities for this round of negotiations, including enhanced job protection, scheduling rights, improved leave provisions and fairness for term and part-time workers.

Our negotiating team was also selected.  Our team is composed of: negotiator Morgan Gay, Denis Lalancette - Chair of the UTE National Bargaining Committee, Jean-Pierre Fraser - Co-Chair, Pietro Masdea - Representative for Tax Services Offices, Dawn Hardy - Representative for Tax Centres, Sabri Khayat – Regional Vice-President for Montreal, Doug Gaetz - Regional Vice-President for the Atlantic region, Robin Johnson - Regional Vice-President for the Greater Toronto Area, and Research Officer David-Alexandre Leblanc.

Union of Taxation Employees National President Bob Campbell spoke at the meeting about the critical importance of this round of bargaining. He re-affirmed the support of UTE leaders for our negotiating team's efforts to achieve a fair contract.  Our union is committed to improving our working conditions at CRA and to fighting to protect the hard-won gains in our current contract.

Together, we can make Canada Revenue Agency a better place to work.

Our contract with CRA expires October 31 this year.  We will serve notice to start the bargaining process at the earliest date, July 1.  Our negotiator will be contacting the Agency immediately after to set dates to begin negotiations.  We will post on the web both our proposals and those of the employer once we have met and exchanged demands with CRA.  If you have any questions speak with your Shop Steward, a member of our negotiating team or your UTE Regional Vice President.

Look for more updates as things progress.
