During the first day of mediation, the PSAC-UTE bargaining team had no choice but to break off talks with Canada Revenue Agency over their refusal to budge on our remote work proposal, a key issue for members at the table this round.

PSAC-UTE bargaining: Still at the table, hard at work

The PSAC-UTE bargaining team is still in talks with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) representatives. The current session — to negotiate a new collective agreement for nearly 30,000 PSAC-UTE members — began on July 14.

Limited progress has been made at the table so far and both the union and CRA management have agreed to extend the bargaining session.

PSAC-UTE files a bad faith bargaining charge against CRA

PRESS RELEASE

Our bargaining team was surprised – to say the least - to see the Canada Revenue Agency’s email to all staff regarding our current negotiations two weeks ago. “This desperate attempt by CRA to mislead and influence our members on the eve of the strike vote is completely unacceptable. It is dishonest and disrespectful to our members.” stated Marc Brière, National President of the Union of Taxation Employees.

PSAC-UTE head to mediation in December

Following the declaration of impasse in September after eight months of negotiations, PSAC and the Union of Taxation Employees have confirmed mediation dates with the Canada Revenue Agency for the week of December 20.

The Labour Board declared that parties are to meet in mediation ahead of a Public Interest Commission (PIC) hearing. We expect dates for the PIC to be announced shortly.

PSAC-UTE pushes for worker gains at Public Interest Commission

The PSAC-UTE bargaining team argued for contract improvements in compensation, remote work and other protections at the Public Interest Commission (PIC) hearing on January 27.

Our team made the case in support of a fair compensation package, protections in the context of access to remote work, new protections for union jobs and new scheduling rights, including years of service protections where there is evening and weekend work. It is time the government and the Agency walk the talk when it comes to work-life balance for workers at CRA.

PSAC-UTE return to the bargaining table with Canada Revenue Agency

Negotiations are set to resume for nearly 30,000 PSAC-UTE members who have been without a contract for almost four years. Canada Revenue Agency has agreed to return to the bargaining table the week of July 6 in the wake of ongoing pressure from our members.
