Mourning 3 years without a contract

Black ribbon with UTE logo symbol of mourning 3 years without a contract

Today, October 31, 2019 marks 3 years since YOUR contract expired.

In order to mark this unfortunate anniversary, we are providing our members with a solidarity pin to wear to send a clear message to the CRA that we are all very frustrated with the way the negotiations are going so far and that our patience has reached its limit.

National Day of Action, November 28

On Monday, November 28th, PSAC is having a National Day of Action across the country to ramp up the pressure on the President of Treasury Board, Mona Fortier on bargaining.

In her role, Mona Fortier is ultimately responsible for our negotiations with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Treasury Board. So far, she has shown no leadership while you face a rapidly rising cost of living. So, we have a simple question: Where’s Mona?

Negotiations - Message from the National President

The UTE/PSAC bargaining team has secured dates to return to the table with CRA for August 8th to 11th, to try and negotiate a fair contract. This is what standing up and returning a strike mandate has done for the members. We will need to show Management over the coming weeks that we support the team by taking actions and putting up signs of support in the offices. We are hopeful that we can come to an agreement, but we will continue to prepare for strike actions should negotiations fail to achieve an agreement.

Negotiations for 35,000 PSAC-UTE members reach breaking point

PSAC and the Union of Taxation Employees – representing more than 35,000 workers at the Canada Revenue Agency – have declared impasse in negotiations after eight months of negotiations and continued calls for concessions from the agency, including during our latest round of talks August 31 to September 1.

Negotiations set to resume with CRA as strike votes continue

As strike votes for more than 35,000 PSAC-UTE members working at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) near completion, PSAC-UTE and CRA have agreed to resume negotiations with the assistance of a third-party mediator to reach a fair contract for workers. Talks are scheduled for April 17-20.

“The clock is ticking on a potential strike,” said Union of Taxation Employees National President Marc Brière. “Workers are telling the government loud and clear during strike votes they’re willing to fight for a fair contract that keeps up with rising costs and improves our workplaces.”

Negotiations with CRA continue

The PSAC/UTE bargaining team has been in negotiations with the CRA since Monday. Our team is working hard and talks are continuing.

Updates will be posted to the UTE and PSAC websites and social media channels.

December 5, 2014

This week our bargaining team met with the Agency to continue negotiations for a new collective agreement.

Over the course of the four days, the parties engaged in exploratory talks on the key outstanding issues such as duration, wages, severance pay, hours of work and job security.

Negotiations with federal government continue as a potential strike for 155,000 workers looms

Over the past two weeks our bargaining teams have been back at the table with the assistance of third-party mediators to secure a fair contract for workers.

This is a critical time in the bargaining process, and it’s encouraging that talks are continuing into the weekend. PSAC will be holding a press conference on Monday, April 17 at 9 a.m. ET to provide an update on the status of negotiations with Treasury Board and Canada Revenue Agency on behalf of more than 155,000 federal government workers.

New collective agreement with CRA signed

PSAC/UTE and the CRA signed our new collective agreement this morning. The contract is now in effect. The CRA has a maximum of 150 days from today to adjust employees’ wages, pay out retroactive payments and the one-time lump sum.
