CAS Can Do It

Sisters and Brothers,

For over two years we have endured problems with our pay, through the Phoenix Pay System.  Over the next few weeks, and months, we will be putting pressure on the Federal Government to make changes to remedy this problem.

CAS Can Do It - The campaign continues

The CAS Can Do It Campaign is underway across the country.  The goal is to have CRA pay its employees directly from the CAS system, rather than the failed Phoenix pay system.  With less than a month to go, we are impressed with the number of cards and hard work put in by our local representatives and support of our members.

CLC: Forward Together - a Canadian Plan

In Canada, we’ve weathered the pandemic by sticking together and supporting each other.

The United States is showing us what happens when we turn to blame, ignore our problems, and act like everyone is in it for themselves. We must reject that, take what we learned from the pandemic, and prepare for Canada’s future.

Court dates for sick leave injunction now set for New Year

Following a case conference with the Ontario Superior Court last week, a new date for the hearing of our injunction application on C-59 has been set for March 1-2, 2016.

The parties consented to the adjournment as a sign of good faith to give the new government elect an opportunity to confirm their campaign promises of not exercising their powers under C-59, the law that allowed the government to unilaterally change provisions in federal government employee contracts and skip over collective bargaining.

Federal unions to take legal action against Bill C-4

Federal public sector unions are joining forces to challenge an unprecedented assault on collective bargaining and workplace health and safety by the Conservative government.

The unions have agreed to pool their resources in advance of the next round of collective bargaining with Treasury Board in 2014. In order to defend the rights of their members, the unions will take joint action to challenge the constitutionality of Bill C-4, the legislation containing these dramatic changes, now being rushed through Parliament.

Frequently Asked Questions: Telework

General

Didn’t we secure telework in our last collective agreement?

We fought and won a commitment from this government that would protect public service workers from arbitrary government-wide decisions on telework just like this one. That Letter of Agreement on Telework was critical to ending PSAC’s strike for the PA, SV, TC, and EB units as well as the Canada Revenue Agency.

Government moves to deny Phoenix victims full compensation

PSAC has been informed that the federal government plans to move forward with taxing Phoenix general damages on March 3rd and that they will not provide the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) with information they requested in order to revisit their initial opinion on taxability.

Government tables “Go-to-work-sick” proposal for federal public service

THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO OUR CURRENT ROUND OF NEGOTIATIONS. THIS IS FOR TREASURY BOARD ONLY AT THIS TIME.

(Ottawa) During negotiations with the Public Service Alliance of Canada yesterday, federal government negotiators tabled a proposal that would gut the sick leave provisions for employees of the federal public service.
