The Union Management Approach Committee met on Monday April 29th, at the UTE National Office, prior to our meeting with the Employer on Tuesday April 30th at 395 Terminal Ave.
The Committee discussed the current rollout of Union Management Approach 103 training. Not all representatives from the employer were at the meeting and two joined virtually. The committee received an update on the rollouts in the Quebec and Ontario Regions. Our President’s representative, Sharon Cowie, was able to update on the Western Region rollout and David Lanthier, Co-Chair, was able to update on the National Capital Region. I did not have any update on the Atlantic Region, at the time.
The Quebec Region is the farthest ahead and the rollout has been going well, with active participation at the regional level, showing “buy-in” from Regional Management Team a well as the UTE Regional and Local representatives. The Ontario Region has not scheduled any regional sessions with the Regional Vice Presidents. Local sessions were still rolling out. There was some discussion with the Eastern Ontario Director about participation of local management in 103 and whether there was a need to participate if they had the training already.
The committee was to have a follow up meeting with the Employer in June, which has been suspended by virtue of the UTE Executive Council decision of May 2nd to suspend Union Management Committee and Union Management Approach training and meetings.
Respectfully submitted,
Jamie vanSydenborgh
Chair of the Committee
