The UTE Work Force Adjustment Committee has not met since the last Executive Council Meeting.
The Chair of the Committee and the Technical Advisor Kristina Cooke were invited to a meeting, along with the National President, on the Employer’s announcement Workforce Adjustment situations in four divisions, including 11 UTE members. Nine members in the Service, Innovation and Integration Branch, with the disbanding of the Change Management Division, were affected. It also included 2 members of the Finance & Administration Branch. The other branches included were Human Resources and Information Technology, with non-represented and PIPSC-AFS members respectively.
All will have Guarantees of a Reasonable Job Offer (RJOs). At the time of writing this report 9 have Reasonable Job Offers (RJOs) and the remaining two are anticipated to have RJOs identified. While all positions reported to Headquarters, one was physically located in the Pacific Region and the other was in the Greater Toronto Region. The Regional Vice-Presidents and Locals have been notified, as have the affected employees.
With the announcement of this WFA initiative, as well as the termination of 1500-2000 term contracts in our Contact Centres, it was discussed among the Chair, Co-Chair and Technical Advisor that the committee should ensure that they are well versed in the Workforce Adjustment Appendix and any changes. This would involve getting the whole committee up to speed as well as preparing our Locals for any possible future WFA situations.
Respectfully submitted,
Jamie vanSydenborgh
Chair of the Committee
