We have followed up with PSAC’s Membership Administration Section managers regarding the following issues:
- Shortfall for our Locals for the period of March 2016 to October 2018;
- Members already assigned to a Local suddenly disappearing from their list.
On the first issue, PSAC told us that the “UnionWare” software recorded and stored all the changes that were made during that period. PSAC had to test whether the system was able to extract statistical data by Local and include only those members added during the period when Phoenix could not read the change file.
Unfortunately, the tests to date have not been conclusive, but they are not finished yet. We will continue to follow up.
Regarding the second issue, we were told by the PSAC Membership Administration Section that the problem occurs only when a member changes classification level, specifically when moving from SP to MG. In such cases, the system automatically transfers the member from his/her Local to the list of unassigned members and in order to remedy the problem, we gave our consent to have PSAC change the rules in order to keep the member in his/her Local before the classification change is made. PSAC was supposed to be able to implement the change last January.
We were told that they are currently testing this functionality in UnionWare. The exact launch date will be determined at a later date and will be communicated to us in the coming weeks.
