- ELECTRONIC APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP FORM
The processing of electronic application for membership forms is still a significant challenge and remains a priority for us. Since my last report, the number of outstanding files has started to decrease but more slowly than we would like. Our staff has managed to process a considerable number of applications but more needs to be done.
That' s why we decided to assign Gabriela Nunes, one of the administrative assistants in the national office, solely to this task to increase the rate of processing in order to decrease the backlog of files. Until further notice, Gabriela will be the main person responsible for managing the email box which contains approximately 2000 membership applications.
As noted in my previous report, we have dedicated a lot of our human resources in the past months to address the issue of unassigned members. We have been successful in doing so, but it has caused an increase in the number of outstanding files regarding electronic applications for membership forms.
Since that time, the PSAC has offered temporary financial assistance to Components to help them deal with issues related to unassigned members. At the last regular meeting of the PSAC National Board of Directors (NBoD) held last October, I thanked the PSAC National President, Brother Chris Aylward, for this offer but informed him that it was too late as we had already dealt with the situation using our own human resources. I also informed him that the fact that we were putting so much effort and resources into fixing this problem had created another problem, a large increase in the backlog of electronic applications for membership forms.
Also, at the NBoD meeting, in the spirit of cooperation and with a view to finding a solution to this other problem, I asked Brother Aylward if he would be willing to offer the same financial assistance to help us reduce more quickly the backlog of membership applications rather than the backlog of unassigned members. He invited me to send him a written request on this subject following the issuance of an upcoming memorandum.
We have now received this memo and I have sent the written request to the PSAC National President asking for financial assistance.
I am now awaiting his response to our request.
I will keep you informed of any developments on this issue.
In the meantime, we continue to work on as many files as possible to improve the situation.
I absolutely want to take this opportunity to thank our administrative support staff for their excellent work and dedication to our members. Their work is greatly appreciated.
Respectfully submitted,
Marc Brière
National President
