Remote work campaign and Labour Day Parades

Hello Sisters, Brother and Friends,

As you may be aware, Labour Day Parades are being organized and held throughout the country every year. The Labour Day Parades are being held this year on Monday September 2, 2024. The Union of Taxation Employees, along with our colleagues in other Components and Directly Chartered Locals of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) will be participating in these parades and strive to have a strong visible presence.

In addition to celebrating the labour movement in general and recognizing our accomplishments on behalf of our members, our goal this year is to publicize our opposition to the government’s unilateral requirement for an increased onsite presence and to mobilize our members in this regard.

All UTE members are strongly encouraged to participate in these parades and further, we ask that you solicit your family members, neighbours and friends to join us in our campaign.

The PSAC in every region has issued a communique outlining the schedule of events for that region and has identified various manners in which members may participate in these parades. For further details, we suggest that you contact a member of your local executive.

A strong presence is necessary to show the government that our members are willing to fight and will not remain passive to the employers’ unilateral and arbitrary imposition of changes to our terms and conditions of employment.

Further activities and events will take place in the coming weeks and months and details will be provided as they become available.

Let’s continue to fight together!

In Solidarity,
