DID YOU KNOW?

That cuts to services at Canada Revenue Agency through the Economic Action Plan will affect you:
- Over 3000 positions eliminated – many of which affect you!
- Counter and cashier services cut across the country where taxpayers used to receive help with tax inquiries, and to pick up forms (28 counters in the country closed in 2012, the remaining 21 slated to close in October of this year) – Where will you get the information you need when you need it and how will you pay your tax bills ?
- Criminal Investigations centralized from local units to major urban centres – How will this help address tax fraud in other areas?
- Privatizing the records storage centres to eliminate jobs and cause outsourcing of the custody of taxpayer documents – How secure will your documents be?
- Moving away from in-person service to electronic services – How does this help seniors or those without internet access or a computer?
- Elimination of personalized tax forms and discontinuance of the Telefile service- How does this promote a voluntary self-assessment tax system?
- Focusing on web-based approaches to outreach instead of face-to-face – How will this help small local businesses?
These reductions directly affect the services you were used to and deserve as a taxpayer. Please contact your MP to voice your concerns.
